Surveying the Duke Physics Building and Constructing Model in AutoCAD
Surveying and AutoCAD are two skills crucial to the field of civil engineering; this project involved both. Having just learned how to use surveying equipment, my partner and I were tasked with surveying the front side of the Duke Physics Building. After taking over 200 points with an autolevel and digital theodolite, we translated our data into AutoCAD to create a layered, 2-D image of the building.
AutoCAD Model
The original points that we initially translated into AutoCAD.
From these points, we used symmetry and reflections to construct the rest of the building.
Adding additional layers and dimensions, here was our final model.
